Position Summary

The Extra Help Building Service Worker performs the services that provide a clean, safe and sanitary environment for Campus Housing residents, guests and staff.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks relating to the maintenance of floors and other surfaces, including vacuuming, mopping, and washing.
  • Perform tasks relating to the renovation of floor surfaces, including application of stripping/finish chemicals, scrubbing, scraping, and buffing.
  • Perform tasks relating to providing a clean and healthy environment in residence hall bathrooms and public restrooms, including approved methods of handling and cleaning bloodborne pathogens and other bodily fluids in lavatories, sinks, shower stalls, bathtubs, and toilets.
  • Perform tasks relating to the cleaning, sanitizing, and/or dusting of windows, wall partitions, door glass, furniture, baseboards, waste receptacles, garbage compactors, countertops, microwaves, and refrigerators.
  • Shovel or sweep snow from steps and immediate areas at building entrances.
  • Using approved methods and formulas, mix cleaning chemicals for application.
  • Provide maintenance of carpet flooring; operate automatic scrubbers, power sweepers, vacuums, and buffers used in connection with building cleaning.
  • Collect and place debris and recyclable materials removed from buildings in containers for disposal.
  • Move furniture, supplies, and miscellaneous equipment as needed.
  • Responsible for handling keys and locking and unlocking doors to buildings, offices, meeting rooms, or student rooms.
  • Report all items that require maintenance or repair.
  • Provide effective customer service to residents, guests, and customers.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
