This position supports key student systems by maintaining and troubleshooting the Placement Testing System, UIC Connect, my.UIC, and student Banner processes while engaging with key stakeholders across the university. It also provides historical system expertise, advises OSSS leadership, and assists with resolving technical issues and special projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical expert for Placement Testing System. Work with departments on Placement Testing content, grading systems and questions. Coordinate with OSSS Developers and Directors on placement system coding, data interfaces and reports. Maintain Placement Testing Documentation, FAQs, student feedback, and website updates.
  • Manage developed systems (Placement Testing, UIC Connect, my.UIC), and student systems (Banner Administrative Systems) to ensure continuous and problem-free operations.
  • Provide historical coding and processing knowledge for student systems, namely UIC Connect to OSSS Executive Director.
  • Advise OSSS Executive Director and OSSS Director of Technology with technological advice and historical institutional knowledge to promote growth and usage of student systems with colleges and administrative departments.
  • Investigate and resolve improper functioning of hardware/software applications.
  • Assist with Banner analysis to determine the impact on adjusted and future system processes.
  • Perform other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  1. Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or closely related field of study.
  2. Minimum of 8 years of professional IT experience which includes 2 years’ experience at a supervisory or management capacity.
  3. Demonstrated PPO/PMO Project Management which includes demonstrated experience in managing all aspects of a diverse IT project or multiple IT projects. Define project timeline and resolve issues to ensure completion of project goals and requirements within defined timeline.
  4. Experience in developing and/or modifying new and existing applications, including requirement analysis, design, code, test, debug, implementation and maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of BANNER Enterprise application system and Slate CRM.
  • Strong in-depth business analysis skills to define, develop and implement technical solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal relation skills.
