The Director of Clinical Operations oversees the daily administrative, financial, and clinical functions of all community clinics operated by Saint Xavier University (the "University"). Responsible for the non-medical clinical services, provides direct management of all clinic personnel, including Nurse Practitioners ("Internal & Contract Field NPs") and Supervising Speech Language Pathologists. Responsible for strategic planning, employee supervision, regulatory compliance, budgeting, policy development, and workflow optimization to ensure that high-quality services are delivered as efficiently as possible.

Effectively manage internal and external cross-functional teams, coordinating and collaborating with the Health Center Director of Clinical Services and the Communication Science Disorders (CSD) Program Director. Ensure that clinical staff have the essential resources to treat patients/clients.

Oversee, plan, schedule, and supervise external promotion and event activities for all clinics, ensuring a balanced budget and sufficient patient/client volume to meet goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Management of employees at the Health Center, Ludden Speech and Language Clinic, and off-site clinics, including Nurse Practitioners, Collaborating Physician, Medical Assistants, Billing Specialists, Student Workers, Office Managers, and administrative personnel. This includes: recruitment, contracting, interviewing, hiring, promotion, performance evaluations, corrective action, training, professional development, certifications/license renewals, ensuring health requirements are fulfilled, benefits changes, terminations, and leaves of absence. Provide support for the hiring of Teaching Assistants in CSD. Motivate and elevate performance of staff through positive direction and team-building. Chair regularly scheduled department meetings. Produce monthly schedules to ensure adequate staffing. Responsible for ensuring 24/7 emergency coverage for patients is available.

2. Monitor the level and quality of care and service to all patients/clients at all clinics. Develop new and update existing policies and procedures. Ensure that new or revised policies and procedures are effectively communicated and implemented to staff. Manage productivity provided by staff and faculty and handle all service recovery. Tactical issue resolution of on-campus emergencies. Oversee site coordination, collaborating with Auxiliary Services, Facilities, and Food Service for special events and Speech and Language screenings.

3. Ensure compliance at each facility operating in accordance with organizational policies and federal, state, and local regulations. Contract and coordinate the disposal of all medical waste from the SXU campus, including the Health Center, Athletics, and School of Nursing, in accordance with regulations. Ensure proper vaccine storage, monitoring systems, and emergency electrical support are in place in accordance with pharmaceutical regulations. Oversee CLIA-waived laboratory license. Ensure staff compliance with Title IV and Security Mentor training. Participate in campus events hosted by other departments to foster relationships.

4. Oversee student immunization compliance for the entire student body and ensure the completion of related state reporting. Coordinate and approve health requirements for Speech Language Pathology students, ensuring they meet qualifications to attend clinical placements. Provide medical records to clinical sites.

5. Function as a change agent, demonstrating innovative, entrepreneurial thinking in response to competitive trends and business development opportunities. Develop and implement successful strategies regarding labor, client/patient growth, revenue growth, expense control, and quality of services, and review or redirect activities when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to support sales and drive productivity.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as the insight necessary to modify one's approach and gain the acceptance of others in difficult situations. Strong financial acumen.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records.
  • Demands constant problem-solving that is complex and involves competing priorities.
  • Problems are varied and require novel and creative approaches to resolution.
  • Supervisor provides broad guidelines and overall direction.
  • Requires analytical ability to research, assess, develop, and implement procedures, policies, and overall strategic planning.
Education Needed: Master's Degree

Prior management experience including at least 5-7 years of work experience in an ambulatory health care setting or medical office.
