The Curriculum and Instruction Coach will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
1. Develop a coaching framework for the Network that focuses to improve instruction and learning across
the Network in all content areas
1. Collaborate with school administration, teacher leaders, and teachers to support high quality instruction
throughout the school
2. To support the Network and school vision around high quality instruction
3. Coach teachers in effective instructional practices through modeling, coaching, mentoring and
co-teaching
4. Partner with school’s Instructional Leadership Team, Literacy Team and administration to assist in the
implementation of the school-wide plan to improve instruction and learning
5. Identify Professional Development needs for teachers and teacher teams.
6. Provide in-service training and follow-up coaching to assist classroom teachers in the use of
instructional strategies
7. Research and prepare materials for professional development
8. Established a relationship of trust and confidentiality with the teachers
9. Work with teachers individually, in Teacher Collaborative Teams (Course Teams) and/or within
Departments, providing support on a full range of instructional strategies
10. Observe and provide feedback to teachers on instructional strategies
11. Assist teachers with the planning, sequencing and scaffolding of instruction

12. Assist classroom teachers with analysis of school-level and classroom level formal (Interim) and
informal assessment data
13. Assist classroom teachers with the analysis of student work
14. Working with IDS coaches (where available) to collaborate and strengthen areas of concern within
the delivery of the curriculum
15. Assist the IDS coaches with improving the quality of instruction in the delivery of the curriculum
16. Any other duties assigned by the Network Chief
In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Curriculum and Instruction


Coach must possess the following qualifications:
Education Required:
Minimum of 2 years teaching experience; Bachelor’s degree.
Valid ISBE Teaching Certificate; Coaching experience and/or training
Experience Required:
Curriculum planning aligned to College Readiness Standards
Protocols Coarse- team Collaboration
Data analysis
Re-teaching strategies using differentiated instruction with whole class, small group and individuals
Facilitation of Professional development
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to articulate a vision, set high standards, and effectively guide schools and principals in the
realization of expectations set
Expertise in leadership development and instructional leadership. Ability to coach directors and
managers toward excellence, build capacity of content area teams and develop meaningful and high
impact professional communities for teachers and school leaders
Strong communication skills (speaking - including presentations - listening, and writing)
Demonstrate high levels of instructional expertise, integrity, honesty, credibility, and the courage to
make difficult yet necessary decisions
Effective strategic planning capabilities, including the ability to establish long-term vision and goals, and
align/manage activities toward goal fulfillment

Strong leadership and team building skills, e.g. ability to develop high performing teams united around

a clear vision for serving schools and achieving student success
Knowledge of operations, budget/finance, management and organizational development Ability
to build collaborative relationships with a variety of constituent groups, including external partners,
to ensure the entire system operates in the most effective manner possible to support schools and
principals
Ability to define problems, analyze data, and outline valid conclusions and action steps
Conditions of Employment
As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic
boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency
throughout their employment with the district.
Be Fully Vaccinated or Submit to Weekly COVID-19 Testing - Employees are required to be fully
vaccinated within 30 days of their hire date. Full vaccination is defined as at least two weeks after
your second shot of a two-shot vaccination course, or at least two weeks after a one-shot vaccination
course. Unvaccinated staff must submit to weekly testing.
